Gojo Dolls

My Dress-Up Darling

Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru.

After being mocked for the ‘girliness’ of his craft, Hina doll [雛人形] artisan apprentice Wakana Gojou passes his high school days alone, finding solace in the sewing room. Suddenly, he crosses paths with the bubbly gyaru Kitagawa Marin, who after seeing Gojo’s skill with the sewing machine, asks him for help with her secret hobby of creating and wearing cosplay.

The real-life model for Gojo Dolls is a shop called Kouji-Ningyo (株)公司人形 in Iwatsuki, Saitama. The cosplay shops, which really exist where they are portrayed, and first convention location are all in Ikebukuro.

Gojo and Marin take a trip to Shibuya featuring a Sketchers location in a background and the Hachiko statue. There’s also a visit to the beach near Enoshima. And of course, Comiket always takes place at Tokyo Big Sight in the Tokyo Bay.
