Skip Street

Sweetness and Lightning

Kōhei Inuzuka is a teacher who has been raising his daughter, Tsumugi, by himself following the death of his wife. Having mostly bought ready-made meals like eki-ben for his daughter since, Kōhei’s encounter with one of his students, Kotori Iida, leads him to take up cooking in order to provide proper meals for Tsumugi. Many recipes and life lessons are learned along the way.

The story takes place primarily on the Skippu-Dori [Skip Street] in Musashisakai, Tokyo, but on many occasions, characters travel to identifiable spots in Shinjuku. One shot of sakura viewing is in Shakuji Park in Nerima and another (the meeting destination proper) is in Inokashira Park near Kichijoji Station.

Many people interested in location hunting have made a point of the fact that Sweetness and Lightning has much of a location overlap with Shirabako, specifically in terms of Skippu-Dori.
