Noragami

Hiyori Iki was a normal middle school student until she was involved in a bus accident while trying to protect a stranger. This incident causes her soul to frequently slip out of her body, and she becomes aware of the existence of two parallel worlds: the Near Shore, where regular humans and creatures reside, and the Far Shore, where phantoms and human souls linger. Through her soul, she meets the strange, no-name kami without a shrine, Yato. Yato is determined to become popular by accepting any wish for 5 yen, including Hiyori’s to fix her body.

From its contemporary setting and high-quality backgrounds, it’s no surprise that Noragami’s sense of pace is set firmly in reality. Noragami’s scenes in Tokyo are focuses around Nerima, Shakuji Park, and Oizumi-Gakuen Station. Yato’s shrine is loosely based on Miho Shrine in Shimane.
