The latest great works by Ishizuka Shinichi! A high school 3rd year student, Miyamoto Dai, whose heart was touched by Jazz, continued to play the Saxophone alone in Kawahara, rain or shine, day or night, for many years. “I want to become the world’s best Saxophone player…!!” Effort, talent, faith, environment, luck…which are necessary? A tale of reaching towards his goal recklessly and sincerely begins in Hirosegawa, Sendai.
There was a contest held for an official paid trip themed around Seichi Junrei for BLUE GIANT SUPREME’s locations featured in Berlin. With how photo-exact and plentiful BLUE GIANT’s locations are, it’s a no-brainer when it comes to encouraging location tourism.
The Selmer Super Action 80 Series 2 B♭ Tenor Saxophone is kind of the pre-eminent classical tenor sax, but of course it shows up in Jazz history a lot too. Dai plays his sax so hard, he wears the lacquer down with his skin oils until it turns dark. This is maybe extreme, but instrument lacquer does wear down over time, especially around spots with regular sweaty contact, like under the right hand thumb rest and the left hand upper palm keys. Either way it has a cool visual appeal in the manga.
The Japanese branch of the Converse All Stars sneaker brand has an official collaboration, featuring panels from the original manga run. Dai wears a pair of low-rise All Stars in the manga.
Sendai has an official Seichi Junrei map for BLUE GIANT. There are also 3 official BLUE GIANT manholes in the Sendai, but I could not work out their locations.
