During class introductions, Haruhi Suzumiya boldly announces her boredom with “normal” people and her intention of meeting supernatural beings. Dumbfounded, normal guy Kyon learns of her frustration with the lack of paranormal-focused clubs at their school and unwittingly inspires her to start her own club. Haruhi starts the Spreading Fun all Over the World with Haruhi Suzumiya Brigade, otherwise known as the SOS Brigade. The SOS Brigade soon recruits Yuki Nagato, Itsuki Koizumi, and Mikuru Asahina. Haruhi Suzumiya takes place in and around Nishinomiya, Hyogo, the hometown of the light novel author. The school is modeled on Kita Nishinomiya High School, which is an active school and thus a restricted location. The whole route to school is very true-to-life.
Cafe Dream has relocated to a few blocks a way and displays a cutout of Mikuru outside.
