Popular, beautiful, and embarrassed former delinquent Koshi Torako just wants to have a proper high school debut. However, on her walk to school, she walks past a bizarre girl dangling from telephone wires by the deer antlers sticking out of her head who claims she can “smell” Torako’s delinquent past. And, what’s worse, she’s wearing the same uniform. Surrealist school comedy ensues. [Adapted from TVTropes]
The anime has a lot of cheeky references to Nara Park, but actually is based around Hino and Tama in Tokyo’s west suburbs. This is clearly set up in the introduction to the first episode, which includes visual references to the Tama Monorail Line and the features of Takahata Fudoson.
The shika senbei, or deer rice crackers, depicted in the anime are frequently shown in these wrappings, which is how they are packaged and sold in Nara Park (outside of the vending machines).
The location featured in the ED is somewhat famous for being a legacy shop for the production of shika senbei.
