The Ancient Magus Bride

Chise Hatori was a child nobody wanted. At age fifteen she sells herself into slavery, desperate for a home where somebody actually wants her to be there, and is purchased by a mysterious mage with a skull for a head. He whisks Chise off to his home in rural Britain and introduces her to a world of talking animals, dragons, and faeries, declaring that she is to become his apprentice in magic… and also his bride!

Discernible spots for Magus Bride are split between conglomerated famous destinations in rural England, London landmarks, and the area around Todoroki Station in Setagaya, Tokyo.

According to an AnimeNYC interview with Jay Gibbs for Anime Corner, Magus Bride Author Kore Yamazaki engaged in onsite location scouting when planning the manga.

“I also go to these places. Right now, the world is set in the UK, so I visit there. I look at the museums and also historical sites, and those are part of my [process]. I use those resources”.
